Saint-Nicolas of Tavant

Photographs accomplished in the "Cité d'Architecture et du Patrimoine"

Saint-Nicolas de Tavant

The bearing angels of lamp of the crypt. The subjects of painting are partly borrowed from Ancient and from New Testament: the Pilgrim, three David, original Sin, jobs of Adam and Eve, Caïn and Abel, the Deposition of the crucifix... All these motives, obviously disparate, get organized however around the topics of conflict between Good and Evil, and destiny of soul.
Saint-Nicolas de Tavant

The crypt, very cramped, rests on eight cylindrical so thick pillars as they leave not much of space to move. Tents are within reach hand. Walls and arches were entirely painted; a big party disappeared, but it remains the remarkable whole Romance painting.
